Norgan region guide: how to get there, settlement, story, side quests and exploration routes.
Norgan Region Guide: Map, Story & Exploration
Norgan, known as the Forsaken Dominion, is the snow-covered northern region added to Dragon's Dogma 2 by the Dark Arisen expansion. You reach it through an introductory quest from Captain Brant in Vernworth, and Capcom recommends level 40 before you cross over. As of the Dark Arisen launch, public maps of the region are still thin, so this guide gathers everything officially confirmed, plus clearly labeled media-tested findings: route in, settlement base, story setup, side quests, and exploration loops.

How to Get to Norgan
Entry runs through one quest chain. The table separates official wording from media-tested detail, naming the source page for each media claim.
| Step | What to do | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Advance the main story to Seat of the Sovran and reach Vernworth | Capcom's official line is that both DLC threads open early by speaking with Brant at the tavern after arriving in Vernworth; the Seat of the Sovran staging is media-tested wording |
| 2 | At night, find Captain Brant at Vernworth's tavern (media guides name it the Stardrop Inn, near the marketplace) and choose "About the new Arisen..." | The night visit, the inn name, and the exact dialogue option are media-tested details, described in Game8's Norgan route guide; official materials only say to speak with Brant at the tavern |
| 3 | Travel to the fallen beast southwest of Melve, across the river | Daytime walk north toward Melve, clearing enemies on foot, as described in Game8's Norgan route guide (media-tested, not official wording) |
| 4 | Talk to the NPC waiting at the crash site and confirm you are ready | Game8's route guide names this NPC Pekdre and describes a cutscene carrying the party to Norgan (media-tested) |
Walkthrough sites have published a name for Brant's introductory quest, but Capcom's own materials have not confirmed it, so this guide refers to it only as the introductory quest until an official source prints the name.
Brant offers two DLC threads from the same counter. "About the new Arisen..." leads north to Norgan, while asking about the uncovered ruins opens the Lost Rites dungeon series (Game8), which stays entirely in Vermund and Battahl. Door mechanics for that second thread are covered in the Lost Rites dungeons guide.
Getting back is free: the Eternal Ferrystone has unlimited uses and moves you between Norgan and the base map. Details are in the Eternal Ferrystone fast travel guide. If Brant offers no quest at all, work through the DLC start walkthrough.
Norgan Map and Confirmed Landmarks
Fextralife's Norgan page still shows placeholders for its map and sub-location lists: the landmarks below are confirmed, and a full point-of-interest survey is still being built.
| Landmark | What is confirmed | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Norgandian Settlement | Expedition hub in Norgan; relic appraisal happens here | Official expansion materials; Fextralife's Norgan page |
| Crash site southwest of Melve | Entry point: a Norgan beast lies across the river with an NPC standing by | Game8's Norgan route guide (media-tested) |
| Snowfields and ruins of the far north | Once a thriving part of Vermund, abandoned years ago; official materials give no reason for the exodus | Official expansion site; Fextralife's Norgan page |
Geography to keep straight: Norgan sits in the far north beyond Vermund, and it is fully separate from the 12 Lost Rites dungeons, which sit on the base map across Vermund and Battahl. Dedicated Portcrystal spots inside Norgan are still being mapped, so track the Portcrystal locations guide as survey results land.
Norgandian Settlement: Your Base
The settlement is your only confirmed safe hub in the snow: relic appraisal and local requests from the survey expedition live here. Only the roles below are officially confirmed, so no other names are listed; a full roster is still being surveyed.
| Resident or service | Role | Confirmation |
|---|---|---|
| Eir | Story lead; investigates the Fallen Dragon at your side | Official expansion materials |
| Survey expedition members | Hand out local requests around the settlement | Official expansion materials |
| Relic appraisal | Turns field finds into usable gear | Official expansion announcement |
The only service confirmed in writing is relic appraisal. Shops, storage, and rest options are undocumented, so confirm them in person before planning around them.
Story: Eir and the Fallen Dragon
The official setup is short and deliberately mysterious. Norgan was once a prosperous region of Vermund, then abandoned years ago for reasons Capcom has not explained. Now a second dragon, the Fallen Dragon, a heartless and undying corpse, has stirred there, and a woman named Eir is hunting the truth behind it. Your Arisen joins forces with her to unravel what the undying dragon is, which is the spine of the expansion story.
Two things to file separately from that official core: enemy design escalates from ice-field monsters early to a darker roster deeper in, the cold-first-then-dark progression the developers call the expansion's signature; and circulating lore theories about Eir's origins have no official backing, so treat them as speculation. Capcom has given no official length for the Norgan content; treat the circulating 25-hour claim as an unconfirmed press figure.
Side Quests in Norgan
The settlement's survey expedition hands out local requests, but as of launch only the threads below are documented well enough to describe without guessing.
| Quest thread | Giver | Payoff | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Introductory quest | Captain Brant in Vernworth | Entry to Norgan itself | Confirmed; see the route table above |
| Settlement side-quest chain | Settlement NPCs | Unlocks transmog for Norgan gear | Officially confirmed; step-by-step in how to unlock transmog |
| Survey expedition requests | Settlement NPCs | Branch tasks around the snowfields | Officially mentioned; list still being compiled |
The transmog chain is the one side thread worth planning around: it unlocks appearance changes for Norgan equipment while keeping original stats. Quest names and step-by-step objectives come only from unconfirmed media reports, so this hub page states the official core and sends you to the dedicated transmog guide.
Exploration Routes and the Relic Loop
A practical first-week route that fits what is actually confirmed:
- Follow Eir's thread first. The story quests lay the region's travel and appraisal surface bare before you wander.
- Run the relic loop. Kill monsters and pick up field Relics, appraise them at the settlement, and wear the random-stat results to push deeper. The full economy is broken down in the relic appraisal and farming guide.
- Respect the level curve. Capcom's stated mark is level 40 for the Forsaken Dominion against level 20 for Lost Rites; lower levels can enter, but deep snow punishes them. Gear and vocation prep are in when to enter Norgan and the beginner tips checklist.
- Expect two enemy phases. Icy-field creatures first, darker designs later, including monsters built on brand-new skeletons, so keep one flexible party slot while you learn patterns.
- Watch the wind. Fextralife's Norgan page notes environment mechanics that respond to the wind in Norgan; details are still thin, so mark exposed ridges on your map and compare notes with other players rather than assuming how gusts behave.
Bring your strongest single-target vocation setup for the early ice fields and save experimentation for after your first appraisal round, when random-stat relic gear starts changing your build math.
FAQ
Do I need to finish the base game before entering Norgan? No. Access opens once you reach Vernworth during Seat of the Sovran. Level 40 is the recommendation, not a lock.
Can I leave Norgan and come back? Yes. The Eternal Ferrystone has unlimited uses and moves you between Norgan, Vermund, and Battahl freely.
Are the Lost Rites dungeons inside Norgan? No. All 12 sit on the base map across Vermund and Battahl and are reached through a separate Brant dialogue option.
Who is Eir? The mysterious woman hunting the Fallen Dragon and your partner through the expansion story. Official materials say little beyond that on purpose.
Where do I appraise relics? At the Norgandian Settlement, the expedition hub inside Norgan.
